SSP Components

SSP Glossary

SSP components are tightly integrated, optimized, tested, documented, and maintained by Renesas. A layered architecture enables developers to write their application with the Application Framework using common APIs, or by directly connecting to the device driver level as needed. Learn the functions of each SSP component here.

Software Qualification

Renesas has established a Software Quality Assurance (SQA) process for the SSP to cover the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from early market requirements validation to software verification and maintenance. Every element of the SSP is defined by and tested to meet these requirements.

SSP quality is tracked and measured using combinations of unit, functional, integration, performance, regression, dynamic, and static analysis tests. To ensure the Synergy SQA process is verifiable and produces quantifiable results, five software quality metric categories must be met for a SSP release:

  • Meet coding standards
  • Maintain low code complexity
  • Have traceability to requirements
  • Build cleanly
  • Achieve full test coverage of all code

What's New?

SSP v1.7.0 is a qualified release for the new features and enhancements delivered as part of SSP v1.6.3. SSP v1.7.0 is being provided to facilitate customers requiring a completely qualified SSP release for the purpose of certification or production.

All SSP releases made prior to SSP v1.7.0, along with corresponding tool chains (e2Studio, IAR Embedded Workbench for Synergy and SSC), are being withdrawn from the Synergy Gallery

  • For first time users of Synergy, please download and install the latest SSP (v1.7.0 or later) and corresponding tool chains (e2Studio 7.5.1, IAR EWSYN v8.23.3 and SSC v7.5.1)
  • If you are developing with an older version of SSP (released prior to 1.7.0), you can continue using it for your projects or choose to upgrade to SSP v1.7.0 (recommended).
  • If you are currently a Synergy user and planning to commence a new Synergy project, it’s highly recommended to create the new project using SSP v1.7.0 or later.

License Keys for SSP v1.7.0

  • License keys provided prior to SSP v1.7.0 (Evaluation, Development and Production, and Source license keys) will not work with SSP v1.7.0 – and will result in a build failure
  • SSP v1.7.0 requires users to install the new Evaluation license key provided with the distribution pack
  • Users with a Development and Production License are required to generate a new Development and Production License key on Synergy Gallery and use it with their SSP v1.7.0 projects.
