This is a rotation detection demonstration kit which uses the RL78/I1D low power consumption 16-bit microcontroller (MCU).
This demonstration kit consists of two planar coils which detect the rotation of a part-metalized disc, and a third sensor to generate a reference signal, allowing it to detect not only rotational speed, but also detect forward direction/reverse direction rotation. Also, by using a coreless planar coil, it has high tamper resistance against permanent magnets, achieving higher detection sensitivity compared to cored inductors.
Moreover, since Flow it! actively utilize the stop mode for detection, it is possible to control the average current consumption to the minimum level (IAVG = 4.5μA ＠ 32 sampling/sec.), supporting long life battery operation.
