Precision Time Protocol (PTP) is the method of choice for high precision time distribution via Ethernet link. Modern system on chip (SoC) solutions are providing hardware-assisted virtualization, to allow execution of multiple operation systems (OS). In such scenarios, the precise time may need to be distributed to many guest OS. We show solutions for PTP time distribution to virtualized OS with the help of HW-assisted virtualization (Renesas R-Switch2) to solve such challenges quickly.
