This Bluetooth® Low Energy (BLE) price tag management system combines the RL78/G1D microcontroller's Bluetooth Low Energy technology with the cloud to collectively manage electronic price tags remotely. This combination of electronic price tagging and BLE brings four added values to price tags: the ability to remotely update price information, centralized management of price/temperature/humidity/illumination information, measurement of customer retention time, and issuing of coupons. A price tag cycles repeatedly between connected mode and beacon mode. During connected mode, the price information is updated and at the same time temperature/humidity/illumination information acquired from sensors attached to the price tag are sent to the cloud. Bluetooth Low Energy is the ideal means of communication to use as an interface for building a system that uses everything from the end to the cloud, and can be applied to a variety of fields.
