Highly Automated Driving Solution Kit
The HAD solution kit provides the required performance, automotive embedded design and functional safety base to develop and verify software for highly autonomous drive systems. It uses high-performance devices targeted at automotive and functional safety, with rich interfaces providing connection to multiple sensors and datalogging. The HAD solution kit comes in a robust and compact housing, allowing operation in the lab as well as in test drives under requirements for automotive.
The HAD Solution Kit consists of two sets of R-Car H3 Starter Kits Premier based on R-Car H3 SoC and one RH850/P1H-C MCU. The R-Car H3 is a high-end/high-performance SoC designed especially for automotive applications that can be used as an automotive computing platform solution for driving safety support systems and in-vehicle infotainment systems, and achieves processing performance of 40,000 DMIPS (Dhrystone million instructions per second (Note 1)) for enhanced processing power. The R-Car H3 also conforms to the ISO 26262 ASIL-B safety standard.
In addition, the R-Car H3 also features powerful graphics processing units (GP-GPU) core by Imagination Technologies’ PowerVR™ GX6650 and Renesas’ IMP-X5 parallel programming core with optimal structure for processing of computer vision and deep learning, for advanced calculation processing required for autonomous driving.
The RH850/P1H-C is a high-end safety MCU with hardware security module (HSM) that conforms to the ISO 26262 ASIL-D safety standard. This RH850/P1H-C has a large capacity memory, and includes a high-performance CPU that achieves processing performance of 1344 DMIPS and rich communication functions for communication networks on one single chip.
The HAD solution kit features five times 100 megabit (MB) Ethernet Broad R-Reach ports, 1 gigabit (GB) Ethernet as well as connectivity such as CAN-FD and FlexRay. Up to 16 camera inputs are available to allow direct connection and image processing by the R-Car H3.
Datalogging is supported with solid state drive (SSD) interfaces as well as a universal serial bus 3 (USB3) connection enabling the recording of test drive data. The kit also provides high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) output for the visualization.
This solution is complemented by Renesas’ Linux Yocto-based board support package for the R-Car H3 as well as software required for the RH850/P1H-C.
