The following Frequently Asked Question topics cover many of the issues that might come up while you are registering to gain access to the Renesas Synergy software and the required license files.  

 

1. Why do I need to register for a My Renesas account?

By registering on the site, you get access to additional documentation and services. For example, you can configure your personalized information page showing product and documentation updates. You can also get access to additional, dedicated downloads.

 

To access the Synergy Gallery system, you must first create a My Renesas account on Renesas.com. This account includes basic user information such as full name and email.

 

Register for a My Renesas Account

1. Click on the Sign in link in the upper right section of the page.

2. Choose 'Don’t have an account yet? Register here.'

3. Fill out the form and click Submit.

4. Open the confirmation email in your inbox. The email will come from general.inquiry.na@renesas.com, with Renesas Registration as the subject.

5. Click on the link in the email to complete your My Renesas registration.

2. Why do I also need to register for Synergy Solutions Gallery?

The Synergy Solutions Gallery account provides you access to Renesas Synergy software releases. For example, registered users can download the Synergy Software Package (SSP) and evaluate it using the included evaluation license. The Solutions Gallery account requires additional information (e.g., company name, location, etc.).  This information is a mandatory requirement and is necessary to ensure U.S. Export Administration Regulations are managed.

 

Register to Synergy Solutions Gallery

1. Sign in to your My Renesas account.
2. Choose View My Renesas Portal from the drop-down menu that appears when you click your name in the upper right section of the page.
3. In the left navigation menu, choose Synergy Gallery > Summary > User Profile.
4. Fill out the registration form fields and click Next.
   Tip: Most of the fields are the same as the My Renesas registration form; some fields that were optional on the My Renesas registration form are now required.

NOTE: Providing your company information in this form does not register your company.  To register your company, see Register Company.

5. An additional form will load. Most of the fields are greyed out, indicating they cannot be changed. Fill out all required fields; otherwise, you will not be able to complete the registration.
6. Enter the captcha text as it appears in the box.
   Tip: Click outside of the captcha input box so the captcha confirms the match. Otherwise, you may not be able to proceed.
7. Select the checkmark agreeing to the Terms of Use.
8. Click 'Submit' to complete registration.

3. What does 'Upgrade Account' mean?

Software distribution may be limited based on legal and trade compliance requirements. 

Upgrading your account is an additional one-time procedure to collect the information needed for trade compliance (for example, citizenship), which is required if you want to download software.

If you are logged in to My Renesas, but you do not have a Synergy Gallery account yet, you will see the ‘Upgrade Account’ option under the ‘Download’ button.

From the software release page:

Click on the ‘Download’ button. You will be asked to register for a Synergy Solutions Gallery account. Follow the Register to Synergy Solutions Gallery steps 4–8.

4. Where do I get the SSP evaluation license?

The evaluation license is included with the Synergy Software Package (SSP) download and does not require company registration. This license allows user to evaluate the fully functional SSP and is available with the user registration only.

 

 

5. Do I need a company registration?

If you are simply evaluating the SSP, you do not need a company registration. You can evaluate the fully functional SSP using the evaluation license and available with your standard Synergy Gallery account.

If you are developing a product for commercial purposes, and therefore need a Development/Production license, a company registration is required.

To validate your company registration request, you must use a valid company email address. You will also need to supply additional information (e.g., company URL) required to process your request.

As already mentioned, providing your company information while registering for My Renesas does not register your company. A dedicated company registration is needed, which is described below.

 

Register Company

1. Sign in to your My Renesas account.

2. Choose View My Renesas Portal from the drop-down menu that appears when you click your name in the upper right section of the page.

3. In the left navigation menu, choose Synergy Gallery > Summary > Company Profile.

4. Choose Yes, please proceed!

5. Enter your Company URL. The system will search to determine if your company is already registered. 

 

NOTE: A company registration can only be submitted by a user who has a valid company email address. The system will match the user's email on the account with the URL provided.

If the two do not match, the system will offer the user an option to change the email address. If the user opts to proceed as is or to change to an email that is not an exact match to the URL, a Gallery Admin will manually verify the request. This verification process may take 48 hours due to different time zones. 

Personal email accounts will be declined, and non-exact match submissions will ONLY be approved if they are subdomains of the company.

 

6. If your company has not yet been registered based on the domain provided, a form will load, allowing you to complete the company registration. This process also requires manual verification, which may take 48 hours due to time zone differences.

7. If the system finds one or more companies registered under the provided domain, you will see a list of all options.  

8. Select the company you work for from the list. An email will be sent to the Super User(s) of your company, informing them that you have just joined Synergy Solutions Gallery and would like to be added as a company user. 

9. Upon approval from the company Super User, you will become a company user and eligible to use the company Development/Production license(s) (if already generated).

6. What is an SSP Development/Production license?

An SSP Development/Production license is required for all commercial products, and it is issued to a company. This license enables developers in the company to view the source code of all SSP software, including the protected code portions while developing and debugging SSP software. With an SSP Development/Production license, the company users activate the SSP warranty terms and acquire the right to develop and take the SSP-based end-product to mass production.

 

SSP Development/Production license company holders also receive elevated priority for technical support requests compared to SSP Evaluation license holders.

 

7. Why a Company Registration can only be submitted from a company email address?

Due to Renesas' policy, to validate the company registration request, we require the user registration to be done using the user's company email address, not any personal email address.

At the time of the registration, the system compares the user's email address with the company website URL. If there is no match, the user will not be able to proceed. The system will offer the user the option to change the email registered on the account to a company email address.

 

NOTE: User must be able to access the email to verify/confirm email ownership/access. Also, as already mentioned above under 'DO I NEED A COMPANY REGISTRATION?', a not exact email match to the URL, might delay the registration approval. 

 

Change Email Address 

1. Sign in to your My Renesas account. 

2. Choose View My Renesas Portal from the drop-down menu that appears when you click your name in the upper right section of the page.

3. In the left navigation menu, choose Account settings > Change your email address.

4. Open the confirmation email in your inbox, and click on the link to proceed. The email will come from general.inquiry.na@renesas.com, with Changing the e-mail address registered to your My Renesas profile as the subject.

5. Sign in to your My Renesas account – to confirm you have access to the account the email is about to change. 

6. Fill out the Change Email form and click Next.

7. A screen will load with your contact information – where you may make additional changes, and click Next

8. Click Next again, to confirm the changes to your contact information.

8. What is a company Super User?

Each company has at least one Super User to manage the account. There is no limit on Super Users per company. Therefore, the user who registers a new company is set as the first Super User for that company by default. This setting can be changed later. 

 

Super Users are responsible for managing the list of valid company users. Super Users will receive account and release notifications; which they cannot opt-out. As the primary contact for the company, they will also receive user requests to become company users and are expected to approve/decline promptly. Besides adding and removing company users, they also have the rights to promote or demote other company members to Super Users.

 

Only Company Super Users can apply for an SSP Development/Production license or place orders for Qualified Software Add-on (QSA) components and for SSP Source Licenses that convert protected SSP source code modules into clear-text files.

 

 

9. How to become a company Super User?

As mentioned above, company Super Users are responsible for managing the list of valid company users, and have the rights to promote or demote other company members to Super Users.

To become a company Super User, you need to ask a Super User to be promoted. In case you do not know who is your company Super User, you can find out simulating to create a Development/Production license through the Synergy system  – see steps below.

 

Become Company Super User  

1. Go to Synergy Software Package page.

2. Sign in to your My Renesas account. 

3. Click Create a Development/Production License under License.

4. A pop-up will load with your company Super User’s email addresses list.  

5. Click in the emails listed and send a direct message requesting to be promoted to Super User.  

6. You will be notified once your request is approved.

10. Why did I get a 'Registration Fail' error message?

Access to download our Synergy Software Package and other software is subject to US Export Regulations; Trade & Legal compliance requirements apply to each transaction. Based on the information provided during the registration process, you may get a “Registration Fail” error, typically due to the region where you are accessing the site, and/or information provided during registration on country of residence and citizenship.  

 

Renesas has implemented a process to meet a minimum level of due diligence, which evaluates information provided during registration and the IP address location, immediately blocking any access that requires further evaluation.

 

Since IP addresses are not 100% accurate (accuracy varies by country), a user could be wrongfully blocked due to similarity with a blocked IP address or country. Therefore, we evaluate all registrations blocked by the system and process them accordingly, contacting the user if additional information is required to approve the access.

 

If you encounter this error, you will be notified once the registration block has been cleared, or if additional information is needed.

 

 

11. Why I cannot register again using the same email?

The email address is a unique ID in the Synergy system; therefore, an email address can only be used once. 

Even if an account is deleted the email can no longer be used. Hence, if you encounter any problems accessing Synergy, please do not delete your account in the attempt to register again. Instead, please contact us at gallery.support@renesas.com, providing a screenshot and/or error message, and a brief note explaining what you were trying to accomplish.

 

 

12. What do I do if I followed the above instructions, and I am still stuck?
