What is Security?

Security can be defined as information control and the design of systems to protect against unavoidable or naturally occurring glitches, as well as prevention of data alteration and misuse.

By limiting access to internal memory/information coding, smartcards capable of such information coding and authentication functions are very useful for protecting against fraud, and data alteration/misuse.

Of course smartcard safety and reliability is built around technological developments in hardware (semiconductors) software and various entire systems.

By offering a high security platform, our secure MCUs contribute to and can be used in a wide range of various fields.

Security Policy

At Renesas Electronics, we use all available methods to prevent information loss/theft of design information. From product development to production, we strive for consistent and safe administration control.

Security Technology

Renesas Electronics has been designing and producing microcomputers for secure MCUs for over ten years. There is an increasing focus on high security for products in various fields, and we invest in product development, human resources and capital outlay.

Renesas secure MCUs have tamper-resistant designs, including features such as metal shields, irregular alignment and multi-layered wiring; security detectors, cryptographic coprocessors and security logic on chip. In order to help deal with a wide range of security threats, Renesas smartcard microcomputers include various advanced countermeasures against current analysis, physical analysis, failure analysis and fault attacks.

Security Certification

At Renesas Electronics, we are aware of the importance of security certification acquisition, and we have worked to achieve this.

In the coming era we will continue to improve secure MCUs security/authentication functions. We will also continue to work on improving performance, answering the requirements demanded of various fields, in particular the high security functions demanded by the financial field.
