IDT Provides NEC with Best-in Class Technology and Software Support to Accelerate Packet Processing and Improve Time to Market
February 7, 2006

San Jose, Calif., February 7, 2006 — IDT(Integrated Device Technology, Inc.; NASDAQ:  IDTI) a leading provider of network search engines (NSEs), today announced that NEC Corporation has selected its 75K62134 NSE to enable advanced features and accelerate packet processing in its VPN Gateway.  The IDT 75K62134 NSE is the industry’s first device with a glue-less integrated Network Processor Forum (NPF) Look-Aside (LA-1) interface to industry-leading network processor units (NPUs).  Delivering search speeds up to 100 million searches per second, the IDT 75K62134 offloads the compute-intensive classification task from the NPU, enabling the NEC VPN Gateway to perform a breadth of value-added services, including security, quality of service and access management control lists.  Combining strong application knowledge and technical support, IDT worked closely with NEC to optimize software development efforts that lowered overall system costs and improved time to market.  The NEC VPN Gateway supports rates up to 1G and provides Internet protocol security.

“When looking for an NSE to design into our VPN Gateway, we looked for a strong supplier with a history of technology innovation, dependability and support,” said Hiroshi Ikeda, senior manager of the IP Networks division at NEC Corporation.  “IDT was the first to offer a glue-less LA-1 interface to leading NPUs, and they provided a breadth of software support that is unrivaled in the market.  We are pleased with the functionality this device has enabled in our current VPN Gateway and look forward to working with IDT as we develop next-generation platforms.”

“We are pleased that NEC, a leading provider of innovative broadband networking equipment has selected IDT for its next-generation service edge routers and other leading-edge products,” said Dave Cech, director of marketing for the IDT IP co-processor division.  “With a feature set that enables differentiation in our customer’s equipment, the IDT NSEs are accelerating packet processing to enable services in next-generation networking applications.”

IDT has a long history of providing leading-edge semiconductor solutions to NEC.  For example, NEC employed the IDT multi-queue flow-control management (FCM) device for its ME1600 system, part of the SpectralWave series of optical access products.
