Innovation Awards Honor the People, Products and Technologies that Shaped the Semiconductor Industry During 2009
February 23, 2010
San JOSE, Calif., February 23, 2010 — IDT® (Integrated Device Technology, Inc.; NASDAQ: IDTI), a leading provider of essential mixed signal semiconductor solutions that enrich the digital media experience, today announced that it had two products selected as finalists for the prestigious Innovation Awards presented by EDN magazine. The IDT DisplayPort compatible PanelPort ViewXpandsolution was selected as a finalist in the PCs and Peripherals category, while the IDT HQV® Vida™ video processor was selected as a finalist in the Multimedia SOCs category. The winner in each category is determined by an online vote. “We received an impressive number of submissions for our 20th annual Innovation Awards program, indicating that innovation was alive and well despite the economically challenging year,” said Rick Nelson, EDN editor-in-chief. “Despite our editors’ best efforts to narrow the field, more than 120 products qualified as finalists, and our editors worked diligently to group them into 30 very competitive categories, representing components, integrated circuits, test systems, EDA tools, design and test software, subsystems, and systems. In the PCs and Peripherals and Multimedia SOCs categories, the IDT ViewXpand and Vida products were two of the outstanding submissions our editors chose. And now, it’s up to the readers to determine which product in each category they find most compelling.”
The IDT PanelPort™ ViewXpand solution can be placed within a notebook, on a docking station, in a stand-alone dongle or on DisplayPort-compatible monitors, allowing original design manufacturers the flexibility to customize the multi-monitor experience for their customers. The plug-and-play configuration of the IDT PanelPort ViewXpandsolution allows end users to enjoy multiple monitors from a single digital output port for each application, such as gaming, graphics design or spreadsheet analysis. And/or, users can choose to dedicate each monitor to a separate application. Moreover, the IDT ViewXpand device is fully HD compatible and provides full display performance with zero latency and no display application limitations. The ViewXpand solution does not require any system software updates or any Windows Hardware Quality Lab (WHQL) testing/qualification, which provides ease of use for end consumers and faster time-to-market for OEMs.
The IDT HQV Vida processor takes the industry-leading Hollywood Quality Video processing technology to a new level of performance, significantly improving the viewing experience for the consumer. The Vida processor enhances image detail and quality with four-field motion adaptive de-interlacing, multi cadence tracking, expanded 12-bit color processing and detail enhancement. The result transforms standard-definition sources to HD quality and makes HD look even more detailed. Moreover, the device also provides real-time clean up of highly compressed video, reducing compression artifacts of block and mosquito noise from lower-quality sources.
“We are honored to be finalists in EDN magazine’s influential Innovation Awards, as this validates our commitment to developing technologies that help enhance the digital media experience,” said Ji Park, vice president and general manager of the IDT Video and Display Operation. “We look forward to continuing to develop innovative display and video solutions as a part of our broader strategy to serve the on-going needs of our customers in this very exciting market.”
Selection Criteria: Nominees must have demonstrated innovation that resulted in a significant advance in technology and/or product development during the past 12 months.
