De-facto Industry Standard Benchmark for Testing Video Products; Orderable in Both Standard- and High-Definition Formats
January 8, 2010
SAN JOSE, Calif., January 8, 2010 IDT® (Integrated Device Technology, Inc.; NASDAQ: IDTI), a leading provider of essential mixed signal semiconductor solutions that enrich the digital media experience, today premiers the next generation Hollywood Quality Video™ (HQV®) Benchmark DVD. The de-facto industry standard test disk has been used by journalists, reviewers and consumers worldwide as a trusted source for evaluating the picture quality, processing and performance of standard definition and high definition products including displays, DVD and Blu-ray players, A/V receivers, projectors and video processing boxes.
Building on previous Benchmarks, the HQV Benchmark 2.0 introduces advanced testing capabilities for such functions as compression artifact reduction, scaling quality and color processing. All video clips and test patterns on the Benchmark have been specifically designed to evaluate a variety of video processing tasks, which include video-de-interlacing, film-cadence detection, video-over film, motion correction, noise reduction and resolution enhancement. Moreover, the HQV Benchmark 2.0 also includes tests specific to basic device set-up, providing a one-stop testing experience. Like its predecessor, the HQV Benchmark 2.0 begins with an introduction, an overview of tests and an explanation of how the tests work.  Additional details including a scorecard to assess video products are available on the website.
“Consumers have more options than ever before when it comes to purchasing video and display equipment. Our HQV Benchmark 2.0 gives them an opportunity to “test-drive” before they buy,” said Ji Park, vice president and general manager of the IDT Video and Display Operation.  “And with the ability to now obtain video from a wide variety of IP-based sources - which often deliver less than optimal compression and resolution - the Benchmark 2.0 allows consumers to evaluate the ability of their chosen device and its video processor to handle this new, highly demanding content.”
