Timing Solutions Provide Increased Bandwidth and Reliability for Computing and Communications Markets

The IDT PCIe Gen 2 timing portfolio includes both buffers and generators that together provide customers with both cost and design flexibility. The portfolio contains devices configured with 2 – 19 total differential output and input choices including both differential and crystal inputs.  Moreover, the devices offer IDT customers further design flexibility through their availability in a wide variety of packaging options. The solutions provide root-mean-square (rms) phase jitter performance as low as 2 pico seconds – providing a significant performance margin improvement to the PCIe Gen2 specification.

Features and Benefits
The IDT 9FG104Dgenerator can be driven with either a 14.318MHz or 25 MHz crystal to provide four (4) PCIe Gen2 reference clocks. Additionally, an eight (8) output version (9FG108D) is available for larger applications such as servers. Both devices are not only Gen2 compliant, but are backward compatible to the PCIe Gen1 specification. For added flexibility, both devices are completely configurable through hardware pins or through an SMBus interface and offer both spread-spectrum and non spread-spectrum options.  For additional information on the devices, visit www.IDT.com/go/IDTPCIe.
Packaging and Availability                        
The IDT 9FG104D is currently available in 28-pin SSOP or TSSOP packaging options. The IDT 9FG108D is currently available in 48-pin SSOP or TSSOP packaging options. Both devices are also available in the -40°C to 85°C industrial temperature ranges. The industrial temperature range IDT 9FG104DGILF in a 28-pin TSSOP is priced at $1.84 in quantities of 10,000 units. The equivalent 8 output device (9FG108DGILF) in a 48-pin TSSOP is priced at $2.00 in quantities of 10,000 units.
