Insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) gate drive photocouplers (optocouplers) are optically coupled isolators containing a gallium aluminum arsenide (GaAlAs) LED on the input side and a photodiode, signal processing circuit and power output transistor on the output side in a single chip. These couplers are designed specifically to provide high common mode transient immunity (CMTI) and a high output current, and have an active miller clamp and high switching speed, making them ideal for driving IGBTs and MOSFETs.
