The Renesas RA family is leading-edge in all aspects. We use state-of-the art Renesas 40nm or 110nm process technology depending on the use cases. The 40nm process is optimized for Flash-based Microcontrollers with lowest power consumption and highest performance in mind, whereby the 110nm is optimized for low voltage and lowest power operation. The IP building blocks reflect the long heritage of Renesas MCUs. For the core, we are using the latest Arm® Cortex®-M cores. All software included with our Flexible Software Package FSP is optimized to work with this IP.
The most recent additions to the RA family of Microcontrollers is the RA4M2 group, which expands our offerings with the Arm Cortex-M33 core with TrustZone. The RA4M2 is the optimum foundation for your platform, with the ultimate balance between performance and active power consumption. We use the same software and hardware building blocks for all RA family microcontrollers, so if you need more performance, memory, and communication options, you can move up to the RA4M3 group or even to the RA6 series. If you want to optimize your design, and your requirements are lower standby current, the RA4M1 group or the RA2 series would be the best fit. The strong foundation of security is the same, regardless of the RA MCU group you choose. All MCUs of the RA Family are designed with the mindset to reduce the total system cost from all angles, including software, hardware and certification.
