A temperature controller is a device with temperature measurement and temperature control functions. The sensor signal from the thermocouple and the temperature measuring resistor (RTD) is processed by the microcontroller and temperature control is performed by external equipment. You may also want a recorder to record a history of the temperature. Multi-channel analog front-ends are needed to handle multiple sensing signals. And, the measured data can be sent to the devices above such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs) via the communication function. Some are also equipped with a small display to display the measurement results.

Renesas offers a wide range of products, from microcontrollers with built-in analog front-ends required for temperature measurement, general-purpose microcontrollers for main control with communication and display functions, to drivers for communication with high-end equipment and peripheral parts.

The RX23E-A microcontroller has a built-in high-precision 24-bit ⊿ΣA/D with low noise, low offset drift and low gain drift characteristics for thermocouple and temperature measuring resistor measurement and contributes to high accuracy and miniaturization of equipment through a combination of digital functions such as DSP/FPU and the temperature measuring unit in a one-chip solution.

Block Recommended Products Features
Analog Front-End MCU RX23E-A With a low-noise, low-drift analog front-end that can measure within 0.1% accuracy without calibration, this is ideal for sensor equipment, control equipment and test/measurement equipment that requires sensing of minute analog signals such as temperature, pressure, flow rate, weight, and distortion. The CPU is equipped with an RXv2 core with excellent DSP/FPU operation, which enables high-precision measurement, control and communication on a single chip.
RA2A1 This features a high-performance Arm® Cortex®-M23 core. It has a variety of digital peripheral functions and 24-bit ⊿ΣADC and 16-bit SARADC analog functions, along with measuring and processing analog signals from sensors; it can also be used with a USB or touch human interface.
Main MCU RX72M The high-performance RX72M Group microcontrollers are equipped with RX's third generation CPU core “RXv3 Core”, which operates at 240MHz. Processing power is significantly improved with double-precision floating-point processing instructions. Equipped with an EtherCAT® slave controller, you can now realize system configurations in a single chip that used to require a conventional dedicated controller, helping reduce the number of components on the board and save space.
RX113 Equipped with built-in communications functions such as USB and IrDA, a capacitive touch sensor (CTSU), a segment LCD, and a serial sound interface (SSI) offering optimal functionality as a human-machine interface.

Starter Kit
RSSK for RX23E-A This is a solution starter kit that allows users to accurately and easily evaluate analog functions without board design or microcontroller software development. An insertion platform is built into the evaluation board so you can connect various sensors without soldering. This contributes to reducing the start-up period of the system evaluation environment.
