The iW9801 digital AC/DC controller integrates Renesas' patented adaptive Zero Voltage Switching (ZVS) technology to enable ultra-small, lightweight, low-cost, and easily portable power supplies for smartphones, tablets, laptops, power tools, and other portable products. The device operates at high switching frequencies, which allows for a much smaller transformer and passive components, and supports USB Power Delivery 3.0 with Programmable Power Supply (USB-PD PPS), along with other RapidCharge protocols at output powers up to 100W.
The iW9801 pairs with Renesas' iW709 secondary-side IC, which integrates fast charge protocol support, USB Type-C control and synchronous rectification FET control. The combined chipset offers a complete high power density AC/DC charging solution, efficiencies up to 94% and advanced protection features to enable high power charging with safe, cool operation in a small physical charger size.
