Description

In industrial applications, the Controller Area Network (CAN) is the most widely used device-level communication bus, with high reliability and cost performance. Sensors are also widely used in industrial applications to measure, for example, air quality and humidity. This design illustrates a sensor data collection network using the CAN functionality in the Renesas’ Arm® core MCU platform, RA2L1 with an embedded M23 core. CAN transceivers are connected by an isolated RS-485 transceiver and an inverter. Additionally, different Renesas sensor modules work on CAN networks (FS2012, HS3001, ZMOD4410).

Industrial CAN Sensor Network

This demo uses an RA2L1 CAN Sensor EVB RA4M1 monitor EVB to demonstrate quick evaluation of the CAN Bus using the built-in CAN Module. CAN transceivers are approached by an isolated RS-485 transceiver and an inverter. Different Renesas sensors modules can work on a CAN network. This demo uses the FS2012, HS3001, and ZMOD4401 for evaluation.
