High-speed analog output photocouplers (optocouplers) are optically coupled isolators containing a gallium aluminum arsenide (GaAlAs) LED on the light emitting diode (input side) and a PIN photodiode and high-speed amplifier transistor on the output side in a single chip. These devices can be used in a wide variety of high-density applications including computer and peripheral devices, general-purpose inverters, substitutions for relays and pulse transformers, power supplies, interfaces for measurement or control equipment, and Power over Ethernet, modems and other communications devices.
