QE for Current Consumption: A Dedicated Tool for current measurement
QE for Current Consumption is a development assistance tool to support the development of embedded systems in which devices of the RL78 Family are used. This is included as a standard item in the e² studio and CS+ (CS+ for CC only) integrated development environments. It shortens the time taken in operations for the tuning of current drawn.
QE for Current Consumption
CS+ for CC: Included in V6.00 (Released: Jul 20, 2017) and later versions
e² studio: Included in V6.0.0 (Released: Aug 08, 2017) and later versions
QE for Current Consumption is a solution kit which operates in the e² studio and CS+ (CS+ for CC only) integrated development environments. It is a tool for using an E2 emulator to tune currents drawn by systems. To obtain low power consumption, previous debuggers required iterative modification or evaluation of programs, since the relationship between current drawn and program operations was not readily apparent. This solution kit can reduce the time taken in operations for the tuning of current drawn through the combination of the following three features.
Easy measurement: Measurement of current with an E2 emulator alone
No need to prepare an ammeter or remodel the board. You can easily measure the current drawn by the whole system by simply connecting an E2 emulator with your system.
Detection in detail: Stops a program when an excessive current is detected
In the case of unusual increases of current or other such events that rarely happen, this feature stops the program in response to the detection of various specified trigger conditions. A current value and time can be specified as a trigger condition. You can identify the reason for excessive current by using this feature.
Quick identification: Visualize the relationship between program operations and current
The relationship between the behavior of a program and current drawn can be visualized by setting monitoring points in the program. You can configure multiple monitoring points at desired positions in the program in a similar manner to the setting of breakpoints. This feature allows you to identify the reasons for increased current.
