H8SX Family

The H8SX family is the fastest single-chip, feature-rich microcontroller in the H8 family platform. The H8SX is powered by a 32-bit architecture that operates at speeds as high as 50 MHz, up to 1 MB on-chip flash memory, low power consumption, high ROM code efficiency, and offers a wide selection of on-chip peripherals.

 

This family of microcontrollers is based on a 32-bit CISC CPU core that was developed to be backward compatible with the H8 16-bit microcontroller CPU. The H8SX has been extended beyond the H8 performance with the addition of a wide range of new instructions, addressing mode enhancements, and internal bus width to 32 bits. This new implementation provides a smooth performance transition for existing H8S and H8 customers with the added benefits of higher processing power and faster operating speeds. Being part of the H8SX Renesas Standard MCU platform enables designers to further benefit from reduced development time and cost savings.

H8SX Family

H8SX/1500

The H8SX/1500 series has the Renesas exclusive high-speed, high-performance 32-bit CISC H8SX CPU core. Renesas has maintained object level compatibility with its existing H8 and H8S products while increasing the maximum operating frequency to 48 MHz. The series is also equipped with peripheral functions very suitable for automotive controls, such as SSU* and CAN, which are LAN standard and employ a 5 V single power supply. It is a series well suited for industrial use, with the automotive field and factory automation as the focus. Models with large capacity flash memory and  improved peripheral functions are currently in development. *SSU:Synchronous Serial Communication Unit

H8SX/1600

The H8SX/1600 series has the Renesas exclusive high-speed, high-performance 32-bit CISC H8SX CPU core. Renesas has maintained object level compatibility with its existing H8 and H8S products while increasing the maximum operating frequency to 50 MHz. Also, features include easy connection to equipment by on-chip peripheral functions and large-capacity on-chip flash memory to support the increasing program sizes of enhanced systems. This series is well-suited for system control applications in both office equipment and consumer appliances. In order to support the increasing range of future applications, we will continue to develop improved on-chip peripheral functions and product with a  variety of on-chip memory units.

H8SX/1700

The H8SX/1700 Series has a 32-bit CPU core with a maximum operating frequency of 80 MHz. This product series is suitable for the automotive segment as well as factory automation and other industrial applications.
