Overview
The 16-bit CISC microcontrollers of the R8C Family support a wide range of application fields using their abundant on-chip peripherals such as comprehensive timer functions and various serial communication functions
Products with built-in modules such as a high-speed on-chip oscillator (R8C/3xM and R8C/L3xM have an oscillation precision of ±1.5%) which negates the necessity of a resonator, a power-on reset circuit (POR) for cutting back on external parts, a low voltage detection circuit (LVD) , or an oscillator stop detector to support system safety, are available, contributing to the development of low cost and safe systems.
The R8C Family also retains compatibility with the M16C Family, so software resources and development tools can be shared.

R8C/1xThese products come in small packages of 20 (SSOP) or 28 (QFN) pins. They have a maximum operating frequency of 20 MHz and support operating voltages from 2.7 to 5.5 V. With enough on-chip peripheral functions for use as a system control microcontroller for a small system, this series can be applied to a wide variety of devices.

R8C/2xThis series features a wide package lineup of 20 to 80 pins, a maximum operating frequency of 20 MHz, and supports operating voltages from 2.2 to 5.5 V. It supports a wide range of system scales from small to medium. The R8C/2x Series also covers a wide range of ROM sizes from 4 to 128 KB. The 20, 32, and 48-pin products include those suitable for automotive electronic devices.

R8C/3xThe R8C/3x Series offers even higher performance and ease of use than the R8C/2x Series. These products have a maximum operating frequency of 20 MHz and support a wide operating voltage range from 1.8 to 5.5 V. They have built-in features such as a DTC (data transfer controller) and data flash with BGO (background operation) function, providing more powerful support for advanced system development.

Standard on-chip peripherals include 16-bit Timers, UART/Clock Synchronous Serial Interface, Voltage Detection Circuit, Power-On Reset Circuit, High/Low-speed On-chip Oscillator, Watchdog Timer, etc.

With a lineup of 30, 32, 52, 64, 80, and 100-pin packages and a maximum 128 KB on-chip program flash, the R8C/Lx Series can support a variety of LCD panel devices. *Not available in the R8C/LAPS Group.

These products have a maximum operating frequency of 20 MHz and support a wide operating voltage range from 1.8 to 5.5 V.
