IR contactless thermometers are needed for medical applications to monitor an individual’s body temperature before entering any public place. Depending on the target market and application, the thermal range to be monitored, as well as the required accuracy, may differ significantly. This is especially the case when comparing thermometers used in a medical environment versus those used in industrial applications. This reference design takes into account the thermometer’s range of operation, accuracy, power considerations, and display options. The design is one possible use case for designers.
System Benefits:
Renesas' Lab on the Cloud is an online environment where Renesas solutions, including popular evaluation boards, winning combinations and software, are hosted in a remote lab that customers access and test online.
The solution demonstrates a working IR thermometer using analog thermopile sensor functionality in the low power RL78/I1B MCU.
Renesas' complementary product portfolios of Analog + Power + Embedded Processing + Connectivity work together to deliver comprehensive solutions. Our product experts have developed "Winning Combinations," compelling product combinations that help our customers accelerate their designs and get to market faster.
