Smart Factory

Although "smart factory" may not yet be a term that is commonly heard, it refers to not only production equipment, but also to a factory that carries out centralized control of energy, HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), lighting, access control, and so on via a network. For factory management in the future, it will become essential to strive to implement smart capabilities into factories as an aspect of smart grid. This will bring about a variety of advantages, not limited to carbon emission (CO₂) reduction and resource saving due to more eco-friendly and greener factories, but also a more comfortable environment for factory personnel and more rationalized management through a more efficient production system. When we think about factory management, investment, design, and operations, smart factories can be clearly seen as the factories of the future.
