The 16-bit CISC MCUs of the R8C Family feature high ROM code efficiency,
superb noise performance, low power consumption, high processing performance
for real applications, and so on. With the advantage of abundant on-chip
peripherals such as comprehensive timer functions and various serial
communication functions, the R8C Family supports a wide range of application
fields. Products with built-in modules such as a high-speed on-chip oscillator
which negates the necessity of a resonator, a power-on reset circuit for
cutting back on external parts, a low voltage detection circuit, or an
oscillator stop detector to support system safety, are available, contributing
to the development of low cost and safe systems. For shorter development times
and reductions in total system costs, Renesas offers low-cost development tools
as well as an expanding lineup of products with on-chip flash only. The R8C
Family also retains compatibility with the M16C
Family, so software resources and development tools can be shared.
