Product overview
Renesas is also a Semiconductor Intellectual Property (SIP) licensing
company, developing and delivering products in the following areas:
SuperH CPU cores:
A family of RISC CPU cores designed for multimedia System-on Chip (SoC)
devices. The 32-bit SH-4 family and 64-bit SH-5 families are available today.
The SH-4 CPU cores integrate a vector floating point unit enabling audio,
speech and graphics applications to be ported. The SH-5 family uses its 64-bit
datapaths to deliver multimedia processing capability via its SIMD (single
instruction, multiple data) instructions. Each family includes a range of hard
and soft core products. For more details go to

SuperHyway Bus™:
A VSIA/VCI compliant on chip interconnect infrastructure designed to give
developers a scalable high bandwidth, low latency interconnect. A set of
configuration tools are available for licensees to develop SuperHyway based
designs. Interfaces to other standards such as AMBA and CoreConnect enable
users to mix peripherals from different IP libraries. For more details go to SuperHyway
Development tools:
A set of development tools based around the open source GNU and Linux enabling
licensees to develop application software for SuperH based SoC devices. Renesas
packages these tools with its simulators in to the Architecture Evaluation
Design Kit (AEDK) which includes all the software needed to write and debug
software for the SuperH CPU core.
Renesas has an extensive 3rd party program and details can be found at
