Overview
User interfaces on many products such as mobile phones, MP3 players, portable games, and industrial and in-home control monitors are becoming ever more visually and graphically interactive. Graphical User Interfaces (GUI) incorporate highly developed visual control features using a touch panel LCD screen, which provide the user with an attractive and easy method to control the product.
To support the design of such feature GUIs, Renesas’ high-functionality MPUs provide an integrated LCD controller combined with highly efficient core IP for still image and video rendering. Renesas’ Control/display MCUs, in combination with flexible GUI middleware, can achieve feature rich visual control solutions with excellent ease-of-use. The GUI middleware allows for production and operation testing on a PC, including screen composition and all required steps from the creation to the running of 2-D and 3-D content. This is very useful for increasing the efficiency of GUI design and reducing overall development costs.
In addition to specific GUI middleware, Renesas also supplies middleware for other functionality, including voice recognition/synthesis and manipulation of JPEG images. In addition, there is a wide offering of Renesas based GUI solutions available for our global network of alliance partners.
