Water Meter

Overview

As the requirement to save energy and to become more eco-friendly has increased the use of smart meters to remotely control a variety of household appliances and systems for the more efficient use of local energy resources. Alongside the adoption of smart grids, electronic water meters are increasing in numbers, providing a total utility solution. MCUs used in water meter designs must have extremely low power consumption and operate at low voltage.

Renesas’ 78K0/Lx3 and R8C/Lx Series of MCUs consume very little current in the standby state and can operate on a wide range of voltages. In addition, a high proportion of the MCU’s pins are devoted to LCD drive, which is suitable for products equipped with LCD displays. The small package size makes it possible to design more compact meters. These MCUs are suitable for use in water meters.
