Overview
Simple water meters and gas meters consist of a mechanical flow meter and a data display.
Meters with prepaid units need to synchronize with a built-in motorized valve to stop flow once the prepaid charge has been used up. Furthermore, prepaid meters require extended battery operation.
Renesas' ultralow voltage operation 8/16-bit microcontrollers with built-in LCD controllers offer a range of solutions for metering applications.
