Remote Control (Single-Function)

Overview

Single-function remote controls are used for a wide variety of applications, including AV equipments (TVs, audio components, etc.), lighting fixtures, cameras, and electric fans. Such remote controls run on battery power and require MCUs with low-voltage operation and low power consumption.

In response, Renesas Electronics offers the chips in the 4286 Group, a range of 4-bit MCUs that deliver excellent performance and is tailored for single-function remote control applications.

Their input pins have a function that allows the user to wake the product from standby mode by pressing any key. An on-chip PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) function is useful for generating remote control carrier waveforms.

Renesas MCUs in the 4286 Group are produced with the QzROM process, so customer-specified value-added functions can be produced at price levels compatible to those of conventional mask-ROM MCUs. In addition, these MCU can be programmed after mounting on the wiring board, making it easier to meet tight software development schedules.
