Devices ranging from low to high end supporting the building of safer vehicles
As the use of electronic control and electrically powered functions in vehicles continues to grow, there is demand for a high level of safety and environmental friendliness in chassis and safety systems,* which deal with operations related to steering and braking. Moving forward, automotive systems will be expected to comply with the ISO 26262 functional safety standard for vehicles. In terms of the functions and performance of MCUs, this is spurring demand for safety mechanisms such as redundant cores, powerful processing capabilities, the ability to communicate with peripheral devices, high-precision ADCs, and low power consumption.
Renesas satisfies this demand and supports automakers wishing to build safer vehicles with optimized solutions based on an extensive lineup of MCUs and analog and power devices ranging from the low to the high end of the market.
* Chassis system examples: Electric power steering (EPS), electronic stability control (ESC), anti-lock braking system (ABS). Safety system example: Airbag system.
