Overview

High-intensity discharge electric headlights, which have grown in popularity in recent years, require electronic control by an MCU. In addition, since this unit is housed in the engine compartment, the MCU must be compact and capable of operating in a wide range of temperatures. Networking capabilities are also important due to the resent trend toward linkage with an AFS.*
Renesas CAN/LIN MCUs are perfect for such applications. They are available in small package sizes and have a wide guaranteed operating temperature range of –40°C to 125°C.
