Powertrain Applications for Automotive

The 32bit microcontroller SH705x family is dedicated for Engine Management Systems. It incorporates specific peripherals for powertrain applications and offers, with the SH7058F, the fastest and largest embedded Flash currently available.

The Challenge - Increasing System Performance Requirements and Greater Memory

Powertrain applications are driven by two goals:

  • Reduced fuel consumption
  • Reduced emissions

Both goals need to be achieved at the same- or even higher- engine power and, of course, at the same system cost level.

  • Enhancements in application: New systems like Electronic Valve Drive (EVD), Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) or Integrated Starter-Alternator systems require higher performance and additional code.
  • New communication interfaces: FlexRay, Byteflight or time-triggered CAN need to be managed.
  • New Software requirements will require more code and higher computing power. These include Auto Code Generation, Quality improvements for Software and model based calculations.
